One hundred policy statements, identical everywhere on earth, scored against the parties that actually contest elections in your country.
These packs are written and checked by hand.
We are two university students, and this is a work in progress. Coding a country means reading every party's published platform and placing it on all 100 statements, one statement at a time. We are working through the world slowly, and we would rather add a country properly than add it quickly.
Tell us which country to do next. Feedback on the statements and on any position we have coded wrongly is just as welcome.
A pack is plain JSON: a list of parties, and 100 lines of comma-separated positions. Export from any pack to see the shape.
You answer each statement from strongly disagree (−2) to strongly agree (+2). Every party holds a coded position on the identical scale.
Agreement with a party on a statement is 1 − |your answer − their position| ÷ 4, averaged across everything you answered. Statements you leave blank drop out of both sides, so leaving one costs precision rather than skewing the result.
The statements never change between countries. That is deliberate: it keeps the instrument stable, stops the questions themselves from being tilted by whoever wrote a particular country's pack, and means your five axis scores are directly comparable with someone else's on the other side of the world.
Balanced polarity. Forty-four statements are written so that agreeing is the progressive answer and forty-four so that agreeing is the conservative one. The remaining twelve concern how power is held and checked, which does not divide neatly along that line. People tend to agree with whatever is put in front of them, and splitting the wording cancels most of that out.
Trade-offs, not villains. "Corporate tax rates should be cut to attract investment," not "tax breaks for the rich."
Open working. Every coded position is shown in full with your result. Disagree with the coding rather than take it on faith.
Finding the parties.
Remove any that don't belong.
Scale runs −2 to +2. Edit any cell you disagree with; changes save with the pack.
Copy this to share the pack, or to keep it without regenerating.
Agreement across every statement you answered.
Economic on the horizontal, social on the vertical. Parties plotted from the same coded positions.
Scored identically in every country, so these are comparable internationally.
No party, sponsor or advertiser pays for this. If it was useful, a few dollars covers hosting and the next country's coding.
One email when a new country goes live or an election is near. Nothing else, ever.
